Professor in Plant Pathology
University of Florida
Gainesville, Florida, United States
Dr. Erica Goss is an Associate Professor in the Department of Plant Pathology and the Emerging Pathogens Institute at the University of Florida. Her research uses genetic and genomic data to explore the ecology and evolution of plant pathogens and plant-associated microbes. The long-term goal of her work is to understand the factors that contribute to the emergence of destructive pathogens and their continued success as they evolve in new environments and on new hosts. Through numerous collaborations, Dr. Goss investigates bacterial, oomycete, and fungal pathogens, contributing to a deeper understanding of plant disease dynamics.
Dr. Goss was recruited in 2011 as an assistant professor with a joint position in the Department of Plant Pathology and the Emerging Pathogens Institute. Her research focuses on the factors that drive the emergence and evolution of pathogens, with an emphasis on their adaptation to new hosts and environments.
