Dr. Patricio Munoz is an Associate Professor in Blueberry Breeding and Genomics at the University of Florida. His lab focuses on advancing the blueberry industry and breeding programs by developing improved blueberry cultivars. His research also aims to generate key genetic and genomic information, methods, and strategies to accelerate autotetraploid plant breeding, enhancing the efficiency and success of cultivar development. Through his work, Dr. Munoz contributes significantly to the enhancement of blueberry breeding, focusing on both genetic improvement and innovative breeding techniques to support the agricultural industry.
Dr. Munoz earned his Ph.D. in Plant Molecular Breeding from the University of Florida in 2012. Prior to that, he completed a Master of Science in Quantitative Genetics at the School of Forest Resources and Conservation (SFRC) at the University of Florida in 2009. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry Engineering from Universidad C. After completing his doctoral studies, Dr. Munoz worked as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Forest Genomic Lab at the University of Florida from January to May 2013.
