I am a master’s student in Dr. Mizuho Nita’s plant pathology lab. I started my journey in agriculture working under Dr. Tony Wolf through high school, performing maintenance tasks on the grapevines and assisting his graduate students with their research. I furthered my education, receiving a Crop and Soil Science and Biochemistry Bachelor’s degree at Virginia Tech while continuing work at the Alson H. Smith AREC, the New Holland Corteva corn breeding station, and with undergraduate research under Dr. Bo Zhang and her soybean breeding program. Since then, I have been working to achieve my master’s degree in Plant Pathology, Physiology, and Weed Science under Mizuho with my research in grape downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola) forecast modeling, climate optimums, and biopesticide trials.
