Dr. Alfredo Martinez-Espinoza is a professor and extension turfgrass plant pathologist at the Department of Plant Pathology, University of Georgia, Griffin campus. His research and extension programs are actively engaged in turfgrass disease diagnosis, turfgrass disease surveillance and disease dynamics as well as cultural, biological, and chemical disease control in cool and warm season grasses. He also works in the identification and characterization of new diseases in turfgrasses. Dr. Martinez-Espinoza has worked in the documentation and management of fungicide resistance (DMI, QoI, SDHI and benzimidazole) in Clarireedia spp. populations in Georgia and in the development of environment-friendly disease solutions. Dr. Martinez-Espinoza has published 4 books, 21 book chapters, over 300 scientific articles, extension bulletins, trade journals, popular press and newspapers articles and has participated in over 350 professional and scientific meetings.
