Bikash Ghimire, PhD (he/him/his)

Bikash Ghimire is a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Georgia under the supervision of Dr. Bochra Bahri since May 2022. He earned his PhD at UGA in the Spring of 2022 after completing an MS degree at Washington State University. Prior to this, Bikash Ghimire completed his undergraduate degree and also obtained valuable experience in germplasm selection and disease screening on several host crops at a government research station in Nepal. During his postdoc, Dr. Ghimire worked on several pathosystems, including dollar spot and Rhizoctonia large patch on turfgrasses, and false smut and rust on switchgrass. During his PhD at UGA, Dr. Ghimire worked on Fusarium head blight on wheat. Dr. Ghimire’s research work includes pathogen population genetics, genomic analysis including genome assembly and SNP calling, identification of disease resistance genes using GWAS and QTL mapping, evaluation of fungicide resistance, biofungicide field trials, etc.
