My primary interest is developing strategies that can be easily translated into practical solutions. My research has focused on developing molecular diagnostic assays for timely and accurate detection of plant pathogens, identifying sources of host resistance, using biotechnology to incorporate resistance, studying pathogen populations and their effect on host resistance, and evaluating agrochemicals efficacy.
I believe in closing the gap between scientists and the public through extension and outreach activities. The only approach our research can have a tangible impact on the well-being of the communities and the sustainability of agriculture is through effective communication with the farmers and the general public.
